Everything You Need to Know About Dermal Fillers from The Center
Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a naturally occurring substance that delivers volume to the skin. Dermal fillers offered by The Center are long-lasting, non-surgical options that contain a modified form of HA. Fillers that include HA are a top choice for patients—over 90% of filler patients receive HA dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for clients age 22 and older for use in reducing the appearance of lines, increasing volume in skin and lips, and correcting facial scars.
What Dermal Fillers Treat
Although our bodies naturally produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, production of these proteins slows over time. By age 30, a variety of factors can contribute to a lack of plumpness in facial and neck skin, as well as the lips:
- Pollution
- Poor Nutrition
- Smoking
- Stress
- Sun Exposure
To restore a youthful appearance to the skin, dermal fillers can be injected into the face to increase fullness, in turn reducing moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers can also reduce the appearance of acne scars, and add volume to the lips.
How to Choose the Right Dermal Filler from The Center
Picking the right dermal filler is something you can do at your consultation with The Center. Depending on where you want enhancements made, and what you want the final results to look like, you may be directed to one filler over another.
The Center offers several different dermal fillers including:
Juvederm Ultra Plus is a long-lasting, non-surgical filler option that contains a modified form of HA. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a great option for many areas of the face and is a favorite in the lips. This product will last 12 months.
Vollure XC injectable gel is for injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and lips. It lasts up to 18 months.
Voluma XC injectable gel is for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss and for augmentation of the chin region to improve the chin profile. When it is placed properly and an adequate amount of product is used, it may last for up to 2 years.
Volbella XC injectable gel is for injection into the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral lines or fine lines anywhere on the face, neck, and hands. Volbella is a thinner filler making it ideal for areas where the skin is delicate, like the lips and under-eye area. Results last up to 12 months.
Voluma XC injectable gel is for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss and for augmentation of the chin region to improve the chin profile. Results last up to 24 months.
What to Expect at Your Dermal Filler Appointment
Depending on how many units you’re having injected, you can expect to spend up to 30 minutes at your appointment.
- The areas to be injected are first cleaned with alcohol.
- A thin needle or a cannula is used to inject the specified units of filler into your skin or muscle at the precise angle needed for best results.
- Topical numbing cream can be used, as well as ice packs tohelp reduce sensation during the injection(s).
- If a cannula is used, you may feel pressure at the opening site as the cannula is introduced into and under the skin after an opening is created with a needle.
- The number of injections used is determined by the area that will be treated, as well as the desired outcome.
