Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC

$650/ syringe

Product

Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a naturally occurring substance that delivers volume to the skin. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a long-lasting, non-surgical option that contains a modified form of HA. Fillers that include HA are a top choice for patients—over 90% of filler patients receive an HA dermal filler.

To convert HA molecules into a stable, lasting filler, they are bonded together, or “cross-linked,” in a specific fashion and suspended in water to make a gel. The tighter the cross-linking, the higher percentage of HA molecules per mL of water, and the thicker the gel.

“Regular” Juvéderm XC cross-links HA molecules of uniform molecular weights—they called this Hylacross.

Juvederm Ultra Plus is a great option for many areas of the face and is a favorite in the lips. This beautiful product will last 12 months.

You’ll need follow-up treatments to maintain your desired results, and as recommended by the provider. Usually at the year mark… but it could be sooner depending on your goals.

Procedures

Little prep and aftercare is required for each injection. The total time spent depends on how many injections you’re getting. The procedure may take up to 15-30 minutes.

Since Juvéderm contains lidocaine, we won’t need to apply a topical anesthetic to your skin before the injections (unless we’re doing your lips… and then I’ll apply a numbing cream). I’ll cleanse your skin first, and then inject the product into the target areas.

You shouldn’t feel too much pain… it’s a quick pinch. You might feel slight pressure and tingling as the product is injected.

Once the injections are completed, you can leave.

Recovery

Like other Juvéderm products, you might see noticeable differences in your skin almost immediately. According to the Juvéderm website, these results can last up to a year.

You can go back to work right after this procedure. However, in the first week after the procedure, you will have swelling that is worse the day after your injections but continues to improve each day.

Maintenance

Frequently Asked Questions

Juvéderm Ultra XC is considered safe for most people when used as directed. While the procedure itself isn’t painful, it’s possible to feel slight pain within a day after the injections. Other common side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, firmness, lumps, skin discoloration, bruising.

These should be mild and usually last less than seven days.

Juvederm Ultra Plus injectable gels labeled with “XC” contain pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injection. You may also ask your aesthetic healthcare provider about a topical numbing cream or ice to help further minimize discomfort.

You will see results immediately/instantly. AND… then you start to swell. Juvederm holds a 1000 x’s its molecular structure in water. So, while it’s processing and integrating into your body… expect swelling for about a week. You will know the complete results at the two-week mark.
