Product
Vollure XC injectable gel is for injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and lips.
You can cross-link HA molecules of all the same molecular weight to form a single-consistency gel (i.e. thin, medium or thick), or you can cross-link different molecular weights of HA in different patterns to make a dermal filler act like both a thin and thick gel to some degree. The newer Vol-named Juvéderm products cross-link together higher and lower molecular weights—this is called Vycross technology.
Vollure combines a “happy medium” of durability and spreadability to treat many areas in the face while allowing for natural facial expressions and movements.
Vollure is so versatile, I choose to use it as a main filler throughout many areas of the face including the lips. It lasts up to 18 months.
Procedures
Once the treatment area has been determined, the provider will inject Vollure, directly under the skin, using a small needle. Sessions generally take less than 30 minutes and are not considered painful. Vollure is premixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, which gently numbs the area during treatment. The injections are normally well-tolerated; however, we can provide an additional, topical numbing cream as needed.
Recovery
Little to no downtime is required after being injected with Vollure XC. Many patients are comfortable returning to their usual activities right away, including work. Initially, patients may experience tenderness, swelling, or bruising along the injection area, although these will dissipate over the first several days. Vollure is FDA-approved as a safe treatment, with little chance for serious complications such as infection or nerve damage.
Results from Vollure are immediate. Patients will note a significant change in lines, creases, and wrinkles that same day. An improvement in jawline or cheek contours can be seen right away, as well. As any residual swelling, bruising, or redness resolves over the following days, the results will continue to improve.
Maintenance
As Vollure’s HA kick-starts the body’s production of collagen and elastin, the benefits of each treatment will be extended. Depending on the treatment area and the extent of correction, results from Vollure can last up to 18 months. As the wrinkle-reducing benefits begin to wane, the treatment can safely be repeated to further maintain results.
Frequently Asked Questions
In the Vollure clinical trial, the most common side effects were temporary reactions at the injection site such as firmness, swelling, tenderness to touch, lumps/bumps, redness, pain, bruising, itching, and discoloration. These side effects usually lasted 1 week or less.
The majority of the side effects experienced from Vollure are mild and temporary and may include swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. If these conditions occur, they are usually gone within a few days. For lip injections, swelling may last 7 to 10 days.
The initial results from Vollure can be seen immediately after the injections. Over the following five to seven days, as any remaining swelling or redness resolves, and the body’s production of collagen increases, the full benefits from Vollure will become noticeable.
Most clients report minor and brief discomfort during the injections. A topical numbing cream is applied prior to injecting around the mouth.
Vollure is also infused with Lidocaine to improve the comfort level.
